Spatial Structures
Design of spatial structures using parametric design tools

Design freedom meets efficient load-bearing behavior

The lecture teaches basic properties of spatial structures and shows tools for their design and dimensioning. Students can directly apply and consolidate their acquired knowledge in an interdisciplinary semester project.

Course Contents

  • Basics of spatial structures
  • Geometry principles
  • Preliminary design
  • Conceptual design of possible connections
  • Assembly methods
  • Project examples
  • CAD tools for spatial design (Rhino, grasshopper, Karamba)
