Glass and Polymers I
Glass Structures

Transparent and load-bearing

Glass and polymers have gained a firm place as structural materials in engineering. In the application of glass in construction, the focus is usually on its high transparency. Its special material properties and, above all its brittleness, require special attention in construction and structural design. In combination with polymers, it is possible to meet structural, safety and building physics requirements with glazing and all-glass structures.

Course Contents

  • Mechanical behaviour of glass and polymers
  • Manufacturing process of the basic product and its finishing processes
  • Structural design
  • Current standards and regulations
  • Glass constructions and construction details
