Façade Technology II
Materials and Building Physics of the Building Envelope

Material, sources of error and practice

Façade Technology II is primarily concerned with the materials used in façade constructions. An understanding of the material-related constructive dependencies is developed and knowledge of the usual material-specific system solutions is imparted. Particular attention is paid to potential sources of defects and damage patterns.

Course Content

  • Material-related facade technology and construction principles: Steel, aluminum, wood, composite, FRP, glass, ploymere, etc.
  • Material-specific applications (structural analysis, building physics, building services, construction, function)
  • Material-related system solutions
  • Applications in building examples (new construction, renovation)
  • Potentials for future developments
