Entwicklung einer Methode zur Qualitätskontrolle bei Vakuumisoliergläsern

Development of a method for quality control of vacuum insulated glazing

Bachelor thesis, Master thesis

This thesis deals with the optimization of the manufacturing process of vacuum insulation glazing (VIG) – innovative glass used in energy-efficient window and facade systems. Due to a main component of the VIG system, the so-called spacers, preliminary damage can occur on the glass surface of a VIG during production, which can have a negative impact on the service life of the system. In order to be able to detect damage that is already initiated during production and to evaluate the degree of damage, the aim of this work is to develop a method for the quality control of vacuum insulation glazing.

Research objective

The goal of this thesis is the development of a scanning method of VIG units to detect damaged regions and characterize the degree of damage

Research method

An existing scanning apparatus will be used and further developed. In addition to the detection of the spacer position, a camera system is to be integrated, that takes corresponding images of the spacers, which can then be evaluated using AI-supported methods.
