SWIVT II receives award for interdisciplinarity and sustainability

2025/06/02

The project SWIVT II, the implementation phase of the initiative on settlement modules for existing residential neighborhoods, has been awarded the 2025 Prize for Interdisciplinarity and Sustainability by the Friends of TU Darmstadt!

At the heart of SWIVT II lies the question of how residential areas can be fundamentally transformed from an energy and ecological perspective. The goal is an integrated renovation at the neighborhood level: buildings, energy generation, storage, and consumption are considered as a system. But it’s about more than just technical solutions. SWIVT II brings together experts from architecture, engineering, energy providers, and real estate services. The project develops strategies to link electricity, heating, and mobility. New business models have been tested, with a focus on systemic flexibility, in close cooperation with practical partners and through ongoing exchange between research and application. SWIVT II stands as a model for interdisciplinary collaboration on some of the most pressing challenges of our time. This award is a valuable recognition and motivation to continue on this path!
