My research focuses on the lifetime extension of offshore wind turbines. A central aspect is the time-varying soil-structure interaction, which is influenced by cyclic loading, settlement, and fatigue over the course of operation. To date, these changes are often considered in a simplified or static manner. The aim is to integrate them realistically into the aeroelastic overall simulation of the turbine in order to predict loads and fatigue more accurately. For this purpose, coupled simulation models are being developed that represent the support structure, soil, and environmental conditions together. This allows remaining service lives to be assessed more reliably and more economical decisions to be made regarding continued operation or decommissioning.

Keywords: Offshore Wind turbines, soil-structure interaction, lifetime extension, time-dependent soil stiffness.
